My Top 5 Song List of 2008 (...so far!)

2008 has seen a variety of different artists coming onto the music scene, with singers such as Adele and Duffy reaching high in the charts, and bands such as Just For Tonight and Alphabeat also fairing well in the UK Top 40. So which 5 songs would I recommend listening to?...Well, you can found out!

(In no partcular order)

1. Duffy - Mercy

This unique song took the charts by storm in early 2008 when it spent 5 weeks at the top spot. The single was released as a CD on February the 25th, but, by that time, the song had already entered the charts at Number 1 entirely on download sales. And Duffy's success looks set to continue with her album Rockferry currently in at Number 2 in the Top 40 Albums chart.

Rating: 9/10

2. OneRepublic - Stop and Stare

Following on from the huge success of their hit single "Apoligize", OneRebulic went on to create the fantastic song "Stop and Stare". The sheer incredibleness of the song is enough to give you goosebumps, and I for one can't wait to hear the next offering from this brilliant band.

Rating: 9/10

3. Leona Lewis - Better in Time

With Bleeding Love being such a hit, there was no doubt that Leona Lewis's next single had to be good. And I think it's safe to say that it is! Amazing vocals and a great backing tune make this song one of my top 5's of 2008 so far.

Rating: 9/10

4. One Night Only - Just For Tonight

When I first heard this song I wasn't quite sure what to make of it. It sounded very much like a Keane or Snow Patrol song, and I've never been a fan of artists copying each others' songs! However, when I heard it for a second time, I concluded that it was an excellent song in its own right. Yes, there are similarities with bands such as Keane and Snow Patrol, but forget that and you've got a great song. The chorus is catchy and it's done well in the charts, which is good considering they've seemingly only been around for five minutes!

Rating: 8/10

5. Sugababes - Denial
